Indian Creek

The island village of Indian Creek, Florida in Miami-Dade county is just four-tenths of a square mile in area. There is only one street, about 40 residences, and a population of about 112 (this number grows during vacation season). To say that homes in Indian Creek are luxurious is an understatement. At tens of thousands of square feet, designed in a variety of styles from the palatial archway-lined facades of the Spanish influence to the sleek wood and stone of modern architecture Indian Creek is a village of dream houses. In this sense, Indian Creek is an estate-based world of its own. Since the Indian Creek Golf Course opened in 2007, elite putters from around the world have come here to play on the green Bermuda grass of this highly exclusive club.

When it comes to real estate, size tells the story of Indian Creek in a different way. Homes range from $7 million to eight figures, with some big-ticket standouts. In 2006, for example, Forbes Magazine noted the sale of singer Julio Iglesias's home at $28 million, a record at the time. Much of the wealth and exclusivity of Indian Creek can be explained by its ability make residents feel safe and protected. Fourteen Florida-state sworn officers make up the Indian Creek Village Public Safety Department which patrols the waters that surround residents' homes 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a fleet of 23-foot Protector/Razor watercraft and 28-foot Mako boats.

Lifestyles on the island revolve around the home and the country club, but there are plenty of options for socializing, dining, culture, nightlife and shopping nearby. Vibrant, cosmopolitan Miami, its luxurious islands and the Keys await. It's only seven miles to South Beach, and a quick sail across the ribbon of bay or a ride over the 91st Street bridge along Surfside's oceanfront and Collins Avenue brings you to more than 100 shops and boutiques for a little mid-afternoon shopping, a sip and a snack, or dinner. Indian Creek represents the best of two worlds: An unprecedented level of exclusivity and privacy in a sun-soaked paradise coupled with the option-rich climate of Florida's glittering resort coastline.
